 What is Senior Project?

Senior Project is a NSHS Graduation Requirement that affords students the opportunity to gain a rich and authentic learning experience in any field or topic of interest to them.


Senior Project is broken down into the following components:

  • at least 15 hours of fieldwork completed under the guidance of a mentor who is an expert in the area of study
  • a 6-8 page research paper that links to the fieldwork
  • a completed Senior Project Portfolio
  • a 10-15 minute culminating presentation of the work the student has done

Information for Mentors

Mentors are an integral part of the Senior Project process.

They are a positive adult role model for seniors who are responsible for guiding their individual student through their fieldwork.                


Mentor Requirements:

  • at least 25 years old
  • not related to the NSHS student
  • not paying the student or receiving compensation for the fieldwork
  • not a NSHS faculty member
  • not serving as a mentor for another NSHS student
